A staunch advocate for music education, Frederik has been mentoring, helping and teaching the young generation of classical musicians in Denmark. From 2008 to 2022 he worked at Sankt Annæ Gymnasium in Copenhagen. Sankt Annæ Gymnasium is the place to be as a young musician with many students continuing to the music conservatoires and colleges in Denmark and in the rest of Scandinavia. In 2023 Frederik joined the conducting faculty at The Royal Danish Academy of Music (Copenhagen, DK) teaching ensemble conducting on both bachelor- and masterlevel.
Frederik has founded his own online teaching portal, www.onlineconducting.com where he teach orchestral conducting to students from all over the world, including US, China, Israel, Iceland, Cyprus, UK, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Denmark. Many of his students study or have studied at places as Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.
Since 2018 Frederik has been giving talks covering topics as leadership in music and on a more personal level on the ups and downs as a father to a child with special needs.
Frederik Støvring Olsen earned a Master of Music degree in trumpet performance at The Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen and a Advanced Postgraduate degree in orchestral conducting (equivalent a Doctor of Musical Arts) from The Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen under the tutelage of Giancarlo Andretta, Giordano Bellincampi and Michael Schønwandt. For six years Frederik studied with Kirk Trevor privately and in workshops in New York City, Slovakia and Czech Republic.
Frederik has attended many workshops led by some of the world's finest teachers and maestros, including Benjamin Zander, Kirk Trevor, Jorma Panula, Kenneth Kiesler, Donald Schleicher, Lior Shambadal, Carlos Moreno and many others.
